'Prove them wrong!'

- Mr. Shawn, my STEM Teacher, on how to deal with my brother and cousin who made fun of my math skills

My name is Nicole Fitzgerald, and I am in 8th Grade. I go to the Hamilton Park Montessori School, and I am one of four girls in my class; we are the first graduating middle school students at HPMS.

My favorite subjects in school are Humanities and STEM. STEM has had a large impact on me because of the opportunity to use a program called Pro-Engineer, which enables us to 3-D print objects that we designed. STEM is also a place where I can think creatively and ‘outside the box.’ Humanities is my other favorite subject, because we get to learn about different cultures and empires such as the Roman and Han Empires. I especially liked reading about the points of views of the people from ancient times. Outside of school I enjoy playing the ukulele and teaching myself different melodies, such the movie score to the Pirates of the Caribbean.  I also love to read – mostly Greek, Roman, and Norse mythology.  I also enjoy baking.

In the STEM Lab...

Ever since I joined STEM in 6th grade, it forever changed my perspective on math, science and engineering. I was surprised to see how creative and fun it could be to apply ideas that I learned in STEM to my projects.

Community Service

Last summer, my brother and I decided to do some community service. Since we live by Hamilton Park we wanted to help out there. So we joined the Hamilton Park Greens Volunteer Group.
