'A lie can travel half way around the world while the truth is putting on its shoes.'

- Mark Twain

My name is Adrik and I came to HPMS as a 6th level. STEM is my favorite subject. I love sports-- soccer, basketball & sometimes football.

Project based learning

Throughout Middle School my school has used project based learning. This year, we are experimenting with a full PBL afternoon in which all of our subjects combine. Our first unit is Bridges & Connection. My team is focused on ‘Why do people think and act the way they do?’ and I am studying why social media makes you feel the way it does. You can see an outline of our whole unit here.

first lego league

I participated in our school’s First Lego League team, the Hamilton Hackers. It was our first time participating and we had a lot of fun building, coding and competing. We even won the Rookie Award!

digital media & technology

I really enjoy making movies and working on editing and playing games. I’ve worked with green screening and also tried animation last year. For our community service, I worked on our school blog site to organize and post content every week for our early childhood classrooms.

HPMS.life

HPMS.life is our community blog site where we upload information, photos for each of our classrooms. I have worked during in-school community service to create and upload content to this site. I learned to use Squarespace, manage photo uploads and write short blurbs.

PC BUILD

I got the chance to build a computer for my 13th birthday and I thought it was really cool. It took me around 4 hours to build. It took a while but it was really fun. I was on the phone with my friends for most of the time so that made it even more fun. One little piece of it took me an hour and a half even though it only should have taken me 20 minutes. I got the idea of doing it from my classmates who did it a long time before me. I also thought about it over the summer, but I looked into it but decided not to. I’m always making sure it’s clean and as cool looking as possible.

math & problem solving

Last year we had a full day where we were challenged to create a game as a group. Our technology teacher worked with us to ideate, prototype and build a playable game in just one day. We invited younger students to test it out and provide us some feedback. It was really fun.

This is a math game I created. I really enjoy math at HPMS. I am challenged a lot and able to push past my limits.

hobbies & interests

I really enjoy playing sports. Some of the things I like are taekwondo, ropes courses, soccer & basketball.
