‘Failure is an option here. If things are not failing you’re not innovating.’

Future Race Engineer. Avid tinkerer. Serial project builder. Believer in duct tape and zip ties. Building the future one project at a time. I’m Lucas Slurzberg, I am 13 years old I love making and building things and I love motorsport.

maker, builder, innovator

I have been tinkering and building things for as long as I can remember. Here is a gallery of some of the work I’ve created during my time in middle school.

First Lego League

I have been participating in FLL for four years, and my dad is our coach. We won best rookie award our first year. Now that I am in 8th grade I have a leadership role and help teach other students.

Balloon Launch

Every year we do a weather balloon launch in STEM. I have worked on the payload. Here is a video and some photos from our launches. Click this link to see a webpage we built to share our experiences.

Personal Passion Project // Go kart build

Project Based Learning

We spend a lot of our time in PBL, making and building projects in teams that are connected to themes that we are studying. Here are two examples.

Our first PBL unit was ‘Bridges.’ My group built a working drawbridge and identified a place for it to be built in Florida.

We used Minecraft to build portions of the city of Rome, and reenact some of the most powerful scenes from Julius Caesar. We used over 1.2 MILLION blocks in building this world!

Family, Travel and Fun

I earned my black belt in tae kwon do and I love spending time at the beach with my family. I also enjoy go karting and watching Formula One. Here are some photos of me with my family and enjoying hobbies. We also LOVE making amazing Halloween costumes.
